At X-Bows, we believe in a simple, powerful idea:
A tool should help you, not harm you.
For over a century, the traditional keyboard has been the primary tool for creation, communication, and work. Yet, this fundamental design is a relic, conceived long before we understood the physical toll of spending hours at a desk. The result is an epidemic of pain, with millions suffering from conditions like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS).
We believe this is fundamentally wrong. And we decided to do something about it.
The Discovery
Our story begins not in a Design Studio but in the world of medicine. Our founder, Dr. Sig, is a medical imaging doctor who has spent his career analyzing the inner workings of the human body.

His journey to create X-Bows started with a scientific paper. In 2003, a review article in the Journal of Musculoskeletal Research
titled "WORK-RELATED CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME: CURRENT CONCEPTS
" caught his attention. He was shocked by a particular statistic he found within its pages: of the more than 8 million Americans affected by Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, a staggering 2 million cases—nearly a quarter—were directly linked to repetitive typing and data entry.
To Dr. Sig, this wasn't just a number; it was a public health crisis hiding in plain sight.
The Problem
Driven by his medical expertise, Dr. Sig dove into the literature, analyzing the biomechanical relationship between typing and CTS.
He concluded that the problem wasn't the user—it was the tool.

The traditional keyboard forces your hands and wrists into unnatural postures, such as bending your wrists outward and overextending your fingers. This position, maintained for hours on end, day after day, puts constant strain on the median nerve that runs through the carpal tunnel in your wrist. He realized that to solve the problem, you couldn't just treat the symptoms; you had to redesign the keyboard from the ground up.
The Solution: The X-Bows Keyboard
From this medical insight, the X-Bows ergonomic keyboard was born. It was engineered with a clear objective:
-
To prevent Carpal Tunnel Syndrome caused by typing.
-
To help those already enduring typing pain find relief and recover.
By aligning the keys with the natural angle of your arms and the resting position of your fingers, X-Bows eliminates the harmful wrist deviation and finger strain that causes pain. It's not just a different keyboard; it's the keyboard corrected.
Our Impact and Your Part in the Mission
The results have been more rewarding than we could have imagined. We've found that 75% of our customers who typed with pain saw their symptoms disappear or significantly ease after using an X-Bows keyboard for just 2-3 months.

We are on a mission to fix a flawed design that has persisted for over one hundred years. Pain-free typing shouldn't be a luxury; it should be the standard.
If you have benefited from using an X-Bows keyboard, we hope you will join our mission by sharing your story and recommending a better way of typing to the people you care about. Together, we can create a future where no one is harmed by their keyboard.
